Abstract
Proximal junctional kyphosis (PJK) after instrumented fusion surgery is one of the major complications leading to the need for further surgical treatment. Insufficient or excessive correction of lumbar lordosis may play an important role in the progression of PJK. The patient presented in this report had experienced a poor quality of life with repeated spinal surgeries for over 10 years. Successful surgical correction of sagittal imbalance was achieved by performing a single level vertebral column resection with an adjacent level anterior lumbar interbody fusion technique.
